What I love about photography is how it opens your eyes to the much ignored and forgotten beauty that surrounds us. Even the most mundane objects can become awe inspiring subjects if you learn to recognize them.

My first encounter with an abandoned location was a mind blowing experience. A new but yet such old and forgotten world revealed itself to me. It taught me how to see decay through entirely different eyes and how to appreciate it's aged beauty and it's past. The textures, colors, light and shadows you find in these places can not be described with words.

I often feel overwhelmed by the atmosphere you still find in such locations. To me it feels like stepping into a different reality or dimension. I try to capture these feelings and impressions in my photos. I do not necessarily present the scene in it's pure form, but I try to enhance certain aspects during my post-processing. This way I attempt to communicate a particular mood that I felt during that moment in time. It usually gives my work a surreal edge.
